USAO Medical Form and Team Fees

I need to have everyone that is attending the USAO camp fill out the attached USAO Medical Release form and return it to me (or Sean) tonight. It also requires that you make a copy of your medical insurance card to attach to the form, so please do that as well.

I spoke with Oscar at Soccer USA and they will not require a deposit for the White uniforms, we will just have to pay for them when we pick them up. He is going to fax me a copy of the order form and I will have them tonight for you to fill out so that we can get the uniforms ordered.

With that said, I will need to collect a check made out to "OFC 98" (Mike C., correct me if I am wrong on that) for $157.50 for team fees. It breaks down like this...
- $60 for June 2010 fees (to establish account)
- $60 for August 2009 fees (due July 20)
- $37.50 for Beat the Heat Tournament (entry fee of $525/14 players)

I know this changed a bit, but the white team only ended up with 14 players as of today instead of the 15 I had originally figured cost with.

See you all at 4:30 tonight on field 6.

Monday Training Session

Parents,

There have been some slight changes to the tryout session on Monday. The session will only be a team and parent meeting, there will not be any on field activities, so the girls do not need to dress out in uniforms. Also, the session has been changed from 4:00pm to 4:30pm.

Tomorrow night we will collect the $155 for team fees. I will call Soccer USA during the day and check to see what we have to put down on the white uniforms and may have to add that to the total. Please check your daughter’s shirt and short size so you will know what you need to order.

As many of you know my daughter, Kelsie, was selected for the Black team therefore I will hand my manager duties over to Sean Berndt, Hannah’s Dad. Also, Mike Collison, Macy’s Dad, will be team treasurer. I am sure you will all be in very good hands. I would like to thank all of the team for being such a great group of parents and kids to have shared this season with, I have really enjoyed the time we have spent sweating, celebrating, anguishing, freezing, traveling, yelling, cursing (ok, maybe that was just me), coaching (from the sideline), laughing, and generally just hanging out together. It has been a lot of fun and has made for some great memories.

Thanks,
Brian Hancock

Team Fees News

I was notified today that our first training payment (August fees) will be due on July 20th. Therefore I have to collect an additional $60 at the Tryout Camp this weekend. The total you need to pay the team is now $155 + the cost of a new uniform, that I won't know the total of until Saturday.

$60 - June 2010 training fee (to establish a bank account)
$60 - Aug. 2009 training fee (due July 20)
$35 - Beat the Heat entrance fee
$?? - Uniform Fee

And, speaking of uniforms, the vote was for us to purchase the whole white uniform (shirts, shorts, and socks). If you haven't seen it, it does look really sharp.

Thanks,
Brian Hancock

See you all Saturday.

Tryouts - Uniform Vote

Tryouts are this weekend and I will have to collect some funds right away. As you know you will have to pay the registration fee of $235 at the first tryout session. You can pay the whole sum or you can break it up into two payments; $135 payable immediately and $100 payable November 1st.

We also need to decide if we want to order the white uniforms… several of the teams have decided to use this uniform. There are white shirts, white shorts, and socks. Or, we can just order shirts and wear with black shorts and socks. I will not know the cost until the day of tryouts but I imagine it will be close to what the others cost; $24 for shirt, $16 for shorts and $12 for socks. I guess we’ll put it to a vote – let me know by Thursday 5pm YES if you want to get the white uniform or NO if you don’t. Majority decides and if yes do you want the whole uniform or just the jersey. I would collect for these at tryouts

I will also need to collect the following fees at tryouts.
- $525 for the Beat the Heat Tournament = $35 per person (if 15 players on team)
- June 2010 coaching fees – this will be used to establish a team bank account.
- White uniforms – if we decide to order

total - $95 + uniform cost in addition to the registration fees.

Mike Collison has agreed to be the team treasurer and he may collect more between now and whenever Austin decides to start practice… I’ll gladly let him figure that out. ☺

I will be at ESC on Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:00pm if you would like to pick up a packet with all the forms you will need to fill out for tryouts… if you do not want to pick up a packet and would like to fill the info out at tryouts then please do not forget to bring the following.

- 2 copies of birth certificate
- 2 wallet size pictures (for player cards)

If you have any questions please let me know.

Academy Camp and Other Info

Below is an email from James Soesbee concerning Academy Camp. If you have
younger kids in Academy, or what to join Academy, then you'll want to read his
message.

Other news to note; Officially we took second in the Frontier Country league
this year. SLSC Cosmos Blue took 1st, which is the only team that beat us. All
in all, a pretty good season.

I will probably set up a time and place for everyone who wants to fill out their
tryout forms early to pick those packets up next week, but I'll let you know
when and where a little later.

Hope everyone's summer is going well. See you all next weekend.

Brian Hancock

Dear Parents:

I hope everyone's summer is off to a good start. I wanted to remind everyone that our Academy camp will be held July 27-30, at the Edmond Soccer Club.
The early registration deadline is July 15th. After July 15th, registration will increase $10.00 and campers may not be guaranteed a t-shirt.

For additional information and to register for the camp, please visit our website at:

http://www.edmondsoccer.com/aca_camps.php I hope to see everyone there. Sincerely James L. Soesbee ESC Technical Director of Development

Tryout and Next Season Infomation

Team tryouts are the following dates and times.

Saturday, 6/27 - 8:00 - 9:30am - OFC East Field 6
Saturday, 6/27 - 3:00 - 4:30pm - OFC East Field 6
Monday, 6/29 - 4:00 - 5:30pm - OFC East Field 7

(Note: Keep in mind that due to the merger ESC is now referred to as OFC East. (OFC West is NOKC)

Please bring the following items to tryouts with you:
- 2 copies of birth certificate
- 2 wallet size pictures (for player cards)
- Medical Release Form (signed)
- Code of Conduct Form (signed)
- USYSA Form (signed)
- $235.00 registration check(s) (write one check or split into two - $135.00 payable immediately and $100.00 post dated November 1st, 2009)

I will put together packets with all the forms for each of you and will arrange a date and time when you will be able to pick them up from me prior to tryouts so that you can have all the required information filled out when you show up for the tryouts.

As with last year the Medical Release forms have to be notarized, I hope to have someone available to do that for everyone instead of each of you having to find someone. I will let you know how that will be handled by the time I have packets ready for you to pick up.

There will be some other fees payable at tryouts or shortly after based on team decisions and required fees that the team has to pay. For example; tournament fees that are required immediately, a fee to build up a team account, and field fees. I am working with someone to be the team treasurer and will have more information about that once I have had an opportunity to meet with them to discuss what is required.

If you have any questions about tryouts please let me know.

A few notes from last nights managers meeting:

Coach Hampton noted that several teams are purchasing the new OFC white jersey and shorts... we will have that option too. I will ask each of you what you would like to do at tryouts. The shirts are going to be about $24, shorts $16, and socks $10. Think about it.

Coach Hampton has instructed his coaches to have tournaments picked for the fall season by the end of tryouts. I have spoke with Austin and he has several picked that do not conflict with his OU coaching schedule, but like last year it will be a team decision on how many and which ones we will play in. I can almost guarantee that we will play in Beat the Heat (Our clubs fall tourney) on August 14-16, so plan for that for sure. As for the others, more info will follow.

Coach Hampton emphasized the importance of good parent behavior at games and tournaments. Some things he pointed out; Please refrain from discussing players from either our team or our opponent while on the sidelines during a game. Never speak with a player from an opposing team during the game. Do not coach from the sideline. Always win or lose with class. Keep in mind your child is playing for the premier club in Oklahoma and our actions need to be of the highest standard possible to reflect that.

One last thing... Now is the time to be thinking about team fund raising. I think everyone from the white team will agree that it was nice to have our tourneys and a few other things paid for with our cookie dough money. If you have a suggestion for a fund raiser that we could do early in the season (saving cookie dough for Oct-Nov) please let me know.

Again, if you have any questions please contact me.

Thank You

Thanks for the gift certificate, Shannon and I will put it to good use. I hear horror stories from other managers who have to deal with unruly parents and people who don't pay there fees and I have it very easy compared to them. You are a great group to work with and I have enjoyed spending time with you and your families. Thanks for all you do to make my job easier.

Brian Hancock

FYI - Competitive Tryout Meeting

Next Thursday, 6/11, at 6pm is a competitive pre-tryout meeting to be held at the ESC North concession stand. I will be attending, however anyone is welcome to attend. If memory serves from last year, the meeting is a Q&A with Coach Hampton and others. If you have a question and are unable to attend let me know and I will ask it for you and get a response back to you.

I imagine the session will be dominated by questions about the merger and how it will affect some of the older teams. Fortunately we don't have to deal with that just yet.

As a reminder, next week is the pre-tryout camp from 8-9:30am Monday through Thursday.

Thanks,
Brian Hancock

Managers Meeting Notes

I went to the managers meeting the other night and here are some important things to note from the meeting.

All tryout locations and times and other information are now posted on the ESC website: http://www.edmondsoccer.com/comp_registration.php If you are planning on applying for a scholarship for next year now is the time to start that application process. They are due by July 10th. A notable change from last year is that with this years application you will also need to turn in a copy of your latest tax return. If you need a copy of the scholarship application please let me know.

Next year OFC is going to require each team not only have a manager but also a treasurer. If you are interested in being either a manager or a treasurer for your daughters team please let the coach that your daughter is assigned to know after tryouts.

There is a meeting slated for 6/11 at 6pm, at the north concession stand of ESC to discuss the tryout process. Please attend if you are interested. I will be attending for our team, but anyone that wants to go is welcome. Obviously I will have more information about tryouts after that. Something to note though... Registration fees are slightly higher this year; $235 (if spliting checks $125 and $110). Also payments will be made to the team treasurer by the 20th of each month, as opposed to the 25th as it is now.

Those are the most notable things I took from the meeting, I'm sure I will have more after the tryout meeting.

Everyone have a safe and happy Memorial Weekend.

Important USAO Camp Info

Also, Since I am out of town next week and next Thursday is the last practice

print yourself a new copy.

June Fees / USAO Info

I have been working on June fees and here is what I have figured out. All we owe for the past month is the usual $60 fee per girl for training and a $30 indoor training fee. If you will remember we paid our last month’s fee at the beginning of the season so that we would have some money in our account to cover things that come up. Taking that into account, as of right now all anyone would have to pay is $2.22.

However, this weekend I learned we will be getting a $200 (40%) credit from the Red Earth Invitational for not being able to complete the tournament. With that in mind what I figured I would do is cover the $30 or so dollars we are short in the account until we get the credit then figure out what each of you is owed back It won’t be much but there should be something. Or, we could use that extra money to cover the cost of a year end party or something. We can discuss later.

(Sniders - Since you did not pay the $60 in August 2008 for the June 2009 fee like the rest of us, due to joining us later in the season, I do need to get a $60 check from you by Wednesday.)

Anyway, that’s where we are at with money.

As for the USAO camp, I will be collecting your completed forms and a check for at least $125 (minimum deposit) by June 5th. The total cost of camp is $325 if you want to pay the whole thing right now, or you can pay the remaining $200 at check-in (I believe). Be sure your daughter and her roommate put each other down on the registration so that Austin can get the roommate assignment list done ASAP. If you have any questions about camp or your registration call or email me.

Last, I will be out of town from May 23 – May 30th (I’m going to Disneyworld!). I should be able to let you know before I leave what our schedule is for next week.

See you at practice on Tuesday and our game Wednesday.

Game On... For Now

Despite what the ESC website and ESC Weatherline says our game is still on for
today. The ESC info says that fields are only open for State Cup team
practices... I had Austin check and they said we can still play our game tonight
barring any late afternoon thunderstorms.

Keep your phone handy and should we need to cancel due to a storm I will text
you. Hopefully they will hold off until after 8:30.

I probably will not be there tonight (Kelsie is gone too) but should you need
anything let me know.

Good Luck,

Red Earth Invitational Questions

Sorry to blow up your email this morning.

I've had a few questions about what is going to happen with the Red Earth
Invitational. They sent an email out this weekend that basically said they
would evaluate their options this week and let us know.

I take that to mean they will look to see if they can feasibly reschedule it and
if not what they will do in the way of refunding money. Their rules state, "If
the tournament is canceled due to inclement weather, acts of God or other acts
beyond the tournament committee’s control and prior to the commencement of the
event then participating teams will be refunded a portion of their entry fee.
Once the tournament begins there will be no refunds." We played one game, so
technically they don't have to refund anything, hopefully the will though.

If they do not reschedule the tourney I will discuss with Austin at that time if
he wants to play in another, until then we will just have to wait and see.

Any other quesitons please let me know.

p.s. I scanned and posted the President's Cup team picture and posted it on our

Schedules for Presidents Cup and Week of 4/20

They have released schedules for the 2009 President’s Cup. Below are our game times. All games are at the Norman Soccer Complex

Saturday, 4/25 – 12pm vs. NOKC United Black – Field 5
Satuday, 4/25 – 6pm vs. Blitz United White – Field 3
Sunday, 4/26, - 2pm vs ? (dependent on bracket finish) – Field ?

The schedule doesn’t look quite complete. There are 3 brackets and the Sunday game is #2 and #3 playing each other, but it doesn’t show what the #1’s are doing… I suppose they play in the second half of the tourney in a couple of weeks. So, we’ll see. Like with every tourney I suppose they are subject to change so stay tuned. For the website with the schedule go to: http://www.gotsport.com/events/schedule.aspx?EventID=5084&Sex=Girls&Age=11

I should have a handout for each of you at one of our games this week. This weeks schedule is as follows:

Monday, 4/20 – 6:30pm – vs. Midwest City (at MWC 8) – wear red
Wednesday, 4/22 – 7:30 – vs. Southlakes Blue (at ESC 5) – wear black

If you are going to miss any game this week let me know.

We’ll see you this week.

Thanks for volunteering for tonight's game against Tulsa Union. The girls game starts at 6, the boys at 8. Please be there 15 minutes before game starts. The games are at Edmond North High School. When you get to ticket booth let them know that you are working as ball girls/boys and you will not have to pay admission. I will meet you at field level. As always, its a bit cooler at the soccer field. Please dress accordingly. If you have ESC gear and it is warm enough, please wear it. Brian, and Rick, please provide me names of volunteers so I can get them to Coach Snyder so the kids can be recognized at half time. If you have any questions, please email or call me at 370-7132. ESC 98 White Edmond North Ball Girl Night

Austin in looking for more volunteers for the ESC 98 White Edmond North Ball Girl Night this Friday at 6pm. I currently have Hannah, Tess, Taylor, Kelsie, Morgan, and Allison as volunteers.

We need 5 more.

Why, you ask? If we can get 11 girls to volunteer then our girls will be announced at the game with an Edmond North player. For example, they would announce, "Devon Legaard, accompanied by, Hannah Berndt of Edmond Soccer." That would be pretty cool!

Besides Edmond North needs all the support they can muster vs. Tulsa Union this Friday, which has beat them in the state title games the last two seasons. This is a BIG game.

If your daughter would like to volunteer, please let me know as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Brian Hancock

Schedule Week of 4/6

There will be no practice on Monday, 4/6.

We have a game Wednesday, 4/8, vs. NOKC black at 6pm on field 5 at ESC. We will wear our black uniforms, however, please bring your gray jerseys as well.

Friday, 4/10, is the Edmond North vs. Tulsa Union game that our girls volunteered to be ball girls. The game is at 6pm, I will check with Austin on what time he wants the ball girls there.

We have another game on Saturday, 4/11 vs. SLSC White at 11am at Southlakes on field 5A. We will wear our red jerseys.

For those of you not at the games this weekend, we won the whole tournament. We tied both of our games on Saturday 1 -1 vs CVFC black and WSA. That put us in 2nd place in the A bracket and we had to play the 1st place team from the B bracket, Tulsa Blitz United. In what will go down in the ESC 98 White annuls as the Thrilla-in-da-Chilla (44 degrees, 30mph north wind) we played to a 1 – 1 tie, then two overtimes with no goals, that put us in a shootout. Two saves by Maddie and 4 goals by our girls gave us a 4 – 2 shootout win and a 2 – 1 win over Blitz. In the Finals we played CVFC Red and won 2 – 0. Sunday’s games were pretty exciting.

WSA Schedule Finalized

The WSA schedule has been finalized and nothing has changed for us.

With that said I know some of you are talking about canceling your Saturday night hotel room because of the schedule. I checked with the Hilton and, after a brief lecture, she agreed to allow it. However you need to do so ASAP. I also spoke with Austin about canceling your rooms and he is ok about it but wants to stress that everyone needs to plan on being at the fields Sunday ON TIME.

To cancel your rooms please call the Doubletree Hilton at 918-587-8000, or sales rep is Angela Mayhew.

If you are going to cancel your room Saturday night please let me know. I was going to make reservations for a dinner somewhere, but if the majority of people are going home I am not going to waste my time.

Any questions let me know.

WSA Tournament Schedule

Our schedule for the WSA Tournament is out. They did say this is the preliminary schedule and subject to change. As it is right now we play at the following times.

Saturday 4/4 - 8:50am vs. CVFC Black - field 10

Then depending on how we fare in those two games we will play at either 2:15pm or 3:20pm on Sunday and the championship game will be at 5:30pm.

Right now lets plan on wearing red on Saturday (as we are the away teams) and we will wear black on Sunday. As usual, bring all uniforms. Unless Austin tells me different lets plan on being at the fields 30 minutes early.

I will have a handout for each of you next week with maps, game rules, schedule, etc.

Doubletree Info - Field Usage Fee Info

Soccer stuff on a down week, don't you just hate me?!

The Doubletree sent me a link that allows you to register online for a room for our tournament. You'll find it below, so if you have not made a reservations please do so. Again, if you are not planning on staying at the Doubletree please let me know. Reservations need to be made by March 26th.

In other news, I got a nasty gram from the ESC treasurer... we have not paid the 2nd half of our field usage fees for the year (whoops, I forgot). The $500 was due February 1st. Anyway. After our tournament entry fees are all paid we have about $300 left from the Cookie Dough fund, I was going to apply that towards the Field Usage fee and collect the remainder from each of you with the April dues. If there are any objections to that please let me know.

Hope you are all having a good spring break, we'll see you next week...

WSA Hotel Reservation Info

Parents,
I have reserved 14 rooms at the Hilton Doubletree in Downtown Tulsa for the evenings of March 3rd and 4th. Each of you will need to take a moment to call or email to reserve one (or more) of these rooms for yourselves. If we need more rooms they can be added. They are going to try to put us all on one floor.

I did talk to the WSA soccer officials and they said we probably won't play Friday evening, but will more than likely have an early game on Saturday so I would recommend going to Tulsa Friday evening and staying there that night. Once we get the actual schedules perhaps we can cancel a night if needed.

For reservations please call (918) 732-3603 and speak with Angela Mayhue. Tell her you are with the ESC 98 White Girls team and need a room. The rooms are $95 a night and includes a complementary breakfast each morning. You can also email Angela at angela.mayhue@hilton.com for your reservation. Just include the above information, what type of room you want, and your credit card number. Nothing is billed at this time.

The Doubletree website is http://doubletree1.hilton.com/en_US/dt/hotel/TULSDDT/index.do if you want to check that out.

If you will NOT be staying at the Doubletree please LET ME KNOW.

Also, we are Austins only team going to this tourney, but he is staying with family, so we do not have to pay for his room.

Any questions let me know.

WSA Cup Hotel Inquery

I have been looking at hotels this morning in the Sand Springs area and have run into a few minor problems. In case you didn't know its GUN SHOW WEEKEND in Sand Springs (Whew HUE!) and many of the smaller, less expensive hotels are full or close to it. For example, the host hotel (Hampton Inn) only has 4 smoking rooms available.

The closest I could find that could get us all in and was a decent hotel is the Hilton Doubletree in Downtown Tulsa (see website - http://doubletree1.hilton.com/en_US/dt/hotel/TULSDDT-Doubletree-Hotel-Tulsa-Downtown-Oklahoma/index.do). They are about 15 minutes from the soccer complex in Sand Springs. They have quoted me $95 a night for a double room (others available on request) which includes a full breakfast. There is a restruant and, if you are so inclined, a bar in the hotel.

I am taking other suggestions right now otherwise I will probably book this first thing Wednesday morning. If you have a suggestion of another hotel let me know.

FYI: I imagine we will have to reserve for Friday and Saturday nights. We will probably not have a game friday night, but they said we would probably play early Saturday.

Thanks,Brian Hancock

Schedule for Week of 3/9

Here is the schedule for this week.
3/9 - Monday - Practice - 5:30 - 7:00pm - Field 3
3/11 - Wednesday - Practice - 5:30 - 7:00pm, Field 3
3/12 - Thursday - Outdoor Game vs. Enid Pride - 6:00pm - Enid field 1 - Wear red.
3/15 - Canceled - to be rescheduled for later time

I have attached Version 4 of our calendar to this email. The changes to the previous calendar are in red. Directions to the Enid complex are on page 5 of the calendar.

It sounds like it is going to be pretty chilly at our game in Enid, please make sure that your daughter has WHITE under armor to wear under her shirt, if your daughter has a different color they may be asked to remove it.

Any questions let me know.

NWO Extreme Game Postponed

I spoke with the manager for the NWO Extreme and they have agreed to postpone our game originally scheduled for this Sunday, 3/8. We have not picked a date for when the game will be rescheduled. She will check availability of their refs and fields and get back with me sometime next week. I will let you know as soon as I do when they would like to play.

With that said we will probably not have any games this weekend. I am still waiting on confirmation from the Enid Pride team, but she didn't think it would be a problem.

I'll keep you informed.

Brian Hancock

Enid Game Reschedule Info

I have rescheduled the ENID game that was originally scheduled for this weekend, 3/7 to Thursday, 3/12 at 6pm. I know that is not much better, but Enid, like us, is not able to reschedule for weekends. The Enid manager has to confirm she can get refs that night, so this is not set in stone just yet, but I wanted to get word to you as soon as possible.

If you are not able to get off work early enough to get your daughter to Enid by 5:40 or so, then we will need to work together to make arrangements to do so. Let me know if your daughter needs a ride and I'll find her one.

I am still working on the NWO Extreme game we have scheduled on Sunday, I'll let you know asap.

Spring League Schedule

Well I had warned we could have games this weekend and sure enough they scheduled us despite me telling them Austin would be gone this weekend.

Our schedule is as follows:

3/7 – vs Enid Pride playing at Enid at 1pm
3/8 – vs NWO Extreme playing at Dolese Park at 3pm
3/14 – vs ESC 98 Gold playing at ESC at 9am
3/15 – vs NOKC Black playing at ESC at 3pm
3/28 – vs MWC Fusion playing in Midwest City at 11am
3/29 – vs CVFC White playing at ESC at 3pm
4/11 – vs SLSC Cosmos White playing at Southlakes at 11am
4/18 – vs SLSC Cosmos Black playing at ESC at 11am
5/16 – vs CVFC Black playing at ESC at 9am
5/17 – vs NOKC White playing at NOKC at 5pm

I am going to try to reschedule our games scheduled for this weekend since Austin is out of town, but if the opposing teams do not want to change we may have to just go ahead and play. I am going to try to make some arrangements on Thursday and notify you ASAP.

There are some other dates that present a problem. The following weekend 3/14 and 3/15, is Spring Break weekend and we have 2 games scheduled. Shannon was approached by the Gold team manager (who we play on Saturday) and asked if we could reschedule that game, so that will probably change. However, I will need to know who will not be able to play that weekend should we have to play the other game. Another date is 4/11 which is the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Again, I will need to know who is not available that weekend.

This is a much shorter season and because of tournaments and other things there are very few dates we can reschedule games too, so we may end up playing a lot of these games where they were scheduled. With 14 players on the roster we should be able to put up a team for most of the games.

In addition to all this is our indoor final this Friday at 7:30. We will wear red uniforms.

I have attached our schedule for you to print out with all of this information on it. The changes and additions to the schedule are in red. Please note that the practice time on Mondays changed to 5:30 - 7:00pm (from 6:00- 7:30). The schedule also shows where the games are played, the colors we will wear, etc. We will wear black for home games and red for away games and bring gray for backup. On the last page of the schedule are directions to each of our away games.

Again, I will let you know as soon as I do what I am able to accomplish with our schedule, but be ready to play just in case.

Thanks, Brian Hancock

Tryout Info Correction

Here is a BIG correction. I misread Austin's email... Tryout CAMP, not the actual tryouts, are June 8-11th. The actual tryout dates have yet to be determined. Please keep that in mind while planning your vacations.

Sorry for the confusion. I will show this correction on my next release of the calendar after our league dates have been released.

Fees Due and Schedule for Week of 2/23

Dear All,

Fees are due tomorrow at our indoor game. Everyone owes $65.35 (Except the Halls who overpaid a lot last month). Please make checks out to ESC 98' White.

The schedule for the week is as follows:

Tuesday - Indoor Game at 5:30 on field 3, wear black. This game was originally against the 99 black team, but Austin has arranged for us to play his 97's instead.

Wednesday - Indoor Game at 5:30 on field 1, wear red. We will play the 99's at this game.

Thursday - Outdoor practice from 5:30 - 7:00 on field 2. Austin added this to our week’s schedule.

Attached you will find a revised calendar. The additions to the calendar are in red. Most notably are the changes to the tournaments and a canceled practice on March 9th. Our outdoor schedule has not yet been released; I will update our schedule when it is available.

No Scrimmage Sunday

We will NOT have a scrimmage this Sunday as previously scheduled.

In lue of a practice/scrimmage this weekend Austin would like to encourage the girls to spend some time "on the ball" this weekend. So please have them get out and do some self drills and skills practice.

Enjoy your weekend. We have two indoor games next week on Tuesday and Wednesday.

New Tournament

Right now Austin and I are looking at a tournament in Sand Springs, OK, which is near Tulsa. The tournament is the WSA Cup. The dates are April 3-5. Their website is http://www.wsasoccer.org/cup/wsa_cup2009.htm. Check it out if you like.

I need to know if any of you have a major conflict with this date. We are kind of limited with the tournaments we have to choose from and this is the one Austin and I felt best suited our skill level and the limited dates we have available to play.

Cancel Hotel Rooms

After reviewing our options at Springfield we've decided to go ahead and
withdraw from the tournament. Our options were to play in the boys division
they signed us up in, the U12 11v11 division, or the U10 8v8 division. Austin
spoke with some of the other coaches and they didn't feel that we would be
getting our moneys worth traveling to Springfield to play in any of those
groups.

With that said, please go ahead and cancel your hotel reservations ASAP. Please
inform the hotel that we were not accepted into the tournament. The hotel is
the University Plaza in Springfield. Call them at 417-864-7333 and ask for the
reservations desk. I have already spoke with them and there is no penalty for
canceling the reservation.

Austin and I are looking at some different tournaments to go to and I will let
you know what we come up with as soon as I can. If any of you have any
suggestions please let me know what they are. Many of you had mentioned the
Wichita tournament, but Austin is not available that weekend, sorry.

Sorry about the logistic problems this has caused some of you.

Additional Practice

In addition to today’s indoor practice we will also have an outdoor practice on Wednesday from 6 to 7:30pm . We do not have a game this week.

For those of you who have looked at the Springfield tournament website, they have us listed as a boys team, I have emailed the director to correct the problem and hope to hear back from them today. I’ll let you know what he says.

The chance of severe weather looks pretty good for this afternoon so Austin has gone ahead and canceled practice. Tentatively we will reschedule the practice for next week. I'll let you know for sure once Austin has had a chance to review his weeks schedule.

Springfield Hotel Reservation Information

Hello Soccer Parents!

You can now start calling the University Plaza in Springfield to book your individual rooms. As you know, we have 15 double-double rooms reserved. The confirmed rate is $99 per night, not including tax. It should be worth it, this is a very nice hotel. It is like the Embassy Suites in design (same parent company) but the rooms are just rooms, not suites like in Little Rock. Suites are available, but not at the team rate. Their AAA rate for a King suite (w/sleeper sofa if above the 4th floor) is $149, if anyone is interested. The hotel address is 333 S. John Q. Hammons Pkwy, Springfield, MO 65806.

The # is 417-864-7333. Ask for Reservations. Tell them you are with ESC '98 White team, coming for the Lake Country Soccer Tournament. They will take special requests, like a King room w/sleeper sofa, or a double-double with sleeper sofa, and everyone please mention that we'd love it if the whole team could be on the same floor. They make no promises, but say they'll do their best. Remember all rooms that have a sleeper sofa in them are on the 4th floor or above.

Rosie, I put in an extra special request for a low floor for Tess with the contact person in group sales at the hotel and she said it shouldn't be a problem. She said they'll treat that a little more seriously than just somebody wanting a particularly type of room.

Now - I have to pass along a very stern warning I got from the group sales contact: She stressed that this is a business hotel. They are not going to be as lenient as hotels in the past have been about kids running around without an adult. She made it very clear that if any other guest complains about the girls and it can be traced to an individual family, that family will be asked to leave the hotel - no refund. So I think we may need to keep a bit tighter rein on the girls this trip. She did say noise levels at the pool (sorry, Austin) are okay, just not out in the halls or too much noise in the rooms to the point where it bothers the neighbors. Apparently this hotel stopped booking teams several years ago because of the disturbance some of them caused, so we just need to be good ambassadors for OFC/ESC.

If anybody has any question, feel free to email me or call me at 359-0998 (H) or 315-7970 (cell).

Thanks! Kacee

Springfield Room Info Needed

Kacee Van Horn has graciously volunteered to arrange for our hotel in Springfield, MO for the Champions Challenge Tournament. She needs an idea of how many rooms we will need. She is just checking for availability right now, so I need to hear from you if; (1) if you are not going to Springfield, (2) if you do DO NOT need a hotel room reserved, and (3) if you need more than one room. Please reply back by Thursday.

Thanks.

Week 1/26 Schedule, Scrimmages, and Other Info

We have two indoor games this week; Thursday at 7:30pm on field 2 (wear black), and Saturday at 8am on field 3 (wear red). As is the norm, please bring the gray practice outfit in case we have to change.

Austin has set up a couple of 11v11 outdoor scrimmages for us in February (weather permitting). The first is February 15th at 2pm and the second is February 22nd also at 2pm. This will give the girls an idea of what to expect next season.

I have 3 girls interested in being ball girls at an Edmond North game this year (Kelsie, Hannah, Allison), if anyone else is interested please let me know ASAP… I’ll contact Russ and let him know who and see what dates are available.

I’ve been working on our tournaments… I have us signed up for Springfield Champions Cup already and looked at signing us up for the Presidents cup. However, the Presidents Cup has to have a $100 trash fee and a $400 “performance bond” in addition to the registration fee to sign up… I am trying to contact someone at the OSA office to find out what the bond is for before I sign us up. I’ll let you know how that goes.

Welcome to the Team Ashley!

Team,

As some of you may already know, Austin has asked Ashley Snider to join our team for the remainder of the season (indoor and out). I think we'll all agree she played very well at the Winter Magic tournament and now she'll be an asset for the team going forward. So, please help me in welcoming Ashley, and her family, to our team.

WELCOME!

February Practice Schedule

Starting Feburary 3rd we will start practicing outdoors (weather permiting) one day a week. We will practice every Tuesday from 5:30 - 7:00 with Austin's 97's. In addtion to the Tuesday practice we will also practice on Wednesday, 2/18, as we do not have an indoor game that week (so, that's twice that week).

Austin says if it is 40 degrees or colder we will not practice. I'm sure I will notify you sometime during the day each Tuesday "weather" or not we will practice.

Any questions, see me.

February Fees

Parents,

Attached is a spreadsheet showing what each of us owe for February fees. Fees are due at practice on Wednesday.

Hannah Berndt - $62.31
Macy Collison - $62.31
Tess Dominic - $62.31
Halle Ginsberg - $82.31
Taylor Gross - $60.00
Laramie Hall - $62.31
Kelsie Hancock - $77.31
Madison Huelskamp - $62.31
Morgan Magee - $62.31
Jade Orange - $62.31
Hope Sanders - $62.31
Paige Serup - $62.31
Ashley Snider - $2.31
Alison Van Horn - $62.31

We are going to pay for the Springfield Champions Challenge ($415) and the Presidents Cup ($525) with Cookie dough money this month, so I will not have to collect for those.

Also, I charged Ashley Snider the same amount I charged everyone else for the Winter Magic tournament ($15 per diem + $40.39 entry fee = $55.39), however since she was not included when I tallied the bills, the money I collected is essentially extra team money. I have to pay Hat Trick for our practice time for the month of January which totals $50 ($25 each time). I will apply the fees Ashley paid to our Hat Trick bill therefore that will not have to be collected. I hope that all makes sense.

If you have any questions about the bill let me know.

I need to collect fees at practice tomorrow if possible. I will not deposit the checks until Friday though.

Volunteer for Edmond North Soccer

Parents, here is an opportunity for the girls to be ball girls for the Edmond North Soccer program. Please respond to Russ and I if you are interested. Thanks

Brian

Once again this year, ESC has been given the opportunity to serve as ball boys and ball girls for the Edmond North Varsity Soccer Program. The coaches would like 6 to 8 girls/boys for each varsity game. The volunteers will have their names announced at the beginning of the game, will have the opportunity to participate in warm-ups with the Varsity teams, and get to meet the coaches and players. Those that participated last year enjoyed the experience and have already contacted me about doing it again this year. This is a great opportunity to do things with teammates, friends etc. Volunteers will be accepted on first come, first serve basis. Below is the schedule. Girls games begin at 6:00PM and Boys games at 8:00PM. I will be at the games to coordinate the volunteers and their positions on the field. If you are interested please respond to russ@heartlandtitle.com with the game you would like to volunteer, and whether you want to do boys or girls game. If you have any questions, Please let me know.

Team Account

Accounting is a total PAIN IN THE ARSE!

With that said, here is the checks and balances for the team account.

Some things to note:

I donated $25 to open the account, but I signed up for the leisure rewards which cost $25. As a member of the leisure rewards club I get points for money deposited and spent… I figured we could use that to get Austin something at the end of the year.

Service Fees; since we are a Business Account we pay a $10 service fee each month unless we maintain a $5000 balance in the account… unless someone wants to donate $5000 for our account to hold we will continue to pay the service fee.

Cookie Dough – We made $4735.00 total. We paid Red Apple $3006.00 for selling us the cookie dough, which means we made $1729.00. Per your feedback, I will use this to pay for the upcoming tournaments. This amount will cover our 3 spring tournaments and leave us $289. We can apply that to the per diem we’ll have to pay Austin for Springfield.

For those of you who have overpaid or underpaid a few dollars here and there, you probably are going to just have to chalk that up to a team donation. Because unless you shorted me a whole bunch or way over paid, you’re out of luck because my record keeping abilities suck. That’s something I’ll work on going forward.

If you have any questions about the spread sheet let me know.

Winter Magic and Practice Info

Hi everyone

We will have indoor practice at Hattrick this Wed 1/14 from 4:30 to 5:30. We don’t have the day and time of our indoor game for this week yet, but I will let you know as soon as I receive it.

The Winter Magic schedules have been posted and I have put the dates and times we play below. I will have packets at Wednesdays practice that will include the formal schedule as well as directions to each of the indoor complexes and the uniform information for each game. According to the schedule it looks like we will only play on Monday if we make it to the finals, so you may want to check with the hotel to see if they will let you cancel if we don’t make the finals and you want to head back home on Sunday. Obviously we probably won’t know whether we are playing or not on Monday until after Sunday mornings game.

Sat 1/17 11:50am BSS Complex

Sat 1/17 4:50pm BSS Complex

Sun 1/18 9:50am OP Complex

Winners of group A and B will play on Mon 1/19 at 10:10am at the LP Complex.

There is a link to the Winter Magic website on blog page if you want to look up any information, otherwise I will bring everything Wed night to practice.

Schedule for Spring Season

Parents,
Located below is Austins schedule for the spring season. We will not start the two days a week practice until March, but we may do one day a week in February, depending on our indoor game schedule and weather. In March we will practice on Mondays from 6-7:30pm with the 97's and on Wednesdays from 5:30-7pm by ourselves.

These are the outdoor tournaments Austin and I have discussed doing in the Spring season.

Champions Challenge
Where: Springfield, MO
When: March 6-8
Cost: $415.00
Book By: February 6

President’s Cup
Where: Preliminaries – Norman, OK
Semi-Finals and Finals – Edmond, OK
When: Preliminaries – April 24-26
Semi-Finals and Finals – May 9
Cost: $525.00 (before February 1st), $575.00 after
Book By: February 1

Red Earth Invitational
Where: Oklahoma City, OK (NOKC)
When: May 1-3
Cost: $500.00
Book By: No Date Given (Early April)

These are not set in stone and are open to discussion so please let me know if you have any issues with our choices or if there is another tournament you think might benefit our team better than one of these. The only conflict I can kinda see is if we make the prelims in the Presidents Cup, then that will be 3 weekends in a row of soccer. I think that is fine, but thought I'd point that out.

As stated in the email I sent yesterday, our outdoor Frontier Country league starts March 7th. Keep that in mind.

Any questions or comments please let me know.

I got everyone’s medical release that is going (except for Maddie, I’ll have her fill out at next weeks game). Thank you for that.

Schedules for the tourney should be out this Friday, I’ll send those out as soon as I see it.

On the Cookie Dough, we sold $4735 worth of cookie orders. We paid the Red Apple organization $3006 and that leaves us $1729 to use at the teams direction. We will play in 3 different tournaments (each will be around $475 to enter) and we have to pay for our outdoor league (It’s not on the website, but I think it is $500). We need to figure out what you want me to use that for. I will have to collect for the outdoor league and our first tournament in the February bill. I think the question is; do you want me to pay for as much as I can until we spend all of our money, or do you just want me to use if for the tournaments? Please send your answer to me by next Monday. Majority will decide. I am still working on our team finance sheet and will get that to you soon. I’m going to have my accountant (Shannon) look it over when she gets some time before I send it out.

The outdoor league starts March 7th. Austin and I have been discussing practice schedules for outdoor as soon as he’s firmed it up I will let you know, but we will probably start at least once a week sometime in February (depending on weather). More on this to follow.

I think that is it for now. Thanks,

Brian Hancock

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a happy New Years.

Don’t forget that Winter Magic is just around the corner, if you haven’t made your reservations for a hotel, please do so. You can find the hotel info on the team blog… http://ofc98white.blogspot.com/.

See you all Wednesday.
